Patient Stories are not anecdotal.

Patients have suffered on the “temporary” pathways hobbled together in this WHSCT.

We as a committee hear their stories first hand.

It is understandable that since the hospital is a major local employment source many people feel that they cannot speak without compromising their family members and friends who work in our Hospital.

It’s also understandable that people believe that if they speak out in their own name, that their future healthcare could be compromised .

It is so sad for us to know the stories that we do hear at times are so strong and yet patients feel they can not speak up,… they feel they need to say nothing because people feel their anonymity matters.

We KNOW that many seriously compromised patient outcomes have happened.

It is ironically, our observation that people who speak out are treated better as a consequence perhaps because they do not show fear.

Either way, we have represented their voices in so far as they feel comfortable .

To those patients who made the choice to contact the Media whether it is local Press or regional Press we thank you as we feel you cannot be called anecdotal evidence.

There is an accountability and a responsibility for the care of every patient in this area, no less than those in all other areas of Northern Ireland.

In essence we firmly believe that by speaking up, your patient story may help you care moving forward and in fact save lives of other patients.

Take your time reading these files.
Every patient story matters to us.

Many people we believe talked to RQIA. We are also aware this is NOT all paper stories. ANd we will continue to encourage patients who feel their care is affected negatively to contact RQIA
