10,000 patients sent to an overwhelmed ED hours away in need of Emergency Surgery.

🛑10 patients daily have to go from this area to Altnagelvin.🛑

🛑10,000 patients had to use WHSCT pathways to Altnagelvin.🛑

In March 2025 WHSCT stated that 7938 patients from SWAH area had to travel to Altnagelvin Hospital since emergency surgery left SWAH in December 2022.

They have not reported any figures since March.

SOAS has extended these figures.

This shows that 10,011 patients from our community have been forced to travel to be treated in Altnagelvin since surgery in SWAH was suspended.
