NIAS not accepting patients for SWAH to Altnagelvin Double ED unless there is a BED to go to.

Our hospital has no consultant surgeons for emergency cases of any type.

Our hospital has no consultant surgeons for emergency cases of any type for 3 years.

Our Hospital, SWAH is too many hours away from any appropriate access in either emergency surgery terms or sepsis code -necrotic tissue – or in the case of immediate surgery or stabilising trauma care.

In May of this year 2 and a half years after not speaking out publicly about their concerns for the impact on patient outcomes and indeed survival the Northern Ireland Ambulance service has made a change in their provision.NO NIAS paramedics until you have a nominated bed…in the receiving hospital which is permanently over capacity.

The new computerised recording of data- Encompas- a note taking system which was designed to map exactly how long patients were in the system for. At this stage NIAS began to say no. No to bringing Patient to DoubleED.

This seems like a very strange process at the very least. It was the first of three letter letters.
Each of these internal communication has been leaked to us by members of health service staff,

The hospital staff are seriously feeling the impact of this as they have patience getting worse and worse in front of them and no capacity to put them in a paramedic letter ambulance until a bed is nominated at a hospital which is overwhelmed two hours away…. No.

NO NIAS paramedics until you have a nominated bed…in the receiving hospital which is permanently over capacity.

no GO!

No hope?

and now THIS remains. BUt is NOT in the public domain….

WHY?
